This is often how dolls arrive into my workshop.
They get inspected for missing parts and damage.
Then it is cleaning, repairing and restringing.
Time to get packed up for their return journey.
Your favorite childhood doll or toy has just been found stuffed away in a box in the basement? It is cracked and dirty and your family urges you to throw it out. But it is full of memories and despite its many flaws, you just cannot discard it. Doll doctors and restoration artists can help. Many of the saddest dolls and toys can be restored. I restore dolls from my home base in Ontario. Wintertime however, finds me packing up a few projects and fleeing to Florida to work in the sunshine!
Just stumbled across your blog while trying to identify a doll. LOVE IT! I do light restorations myself - nothing like yours! My main thing I like to do is sew for dolls head to toe and create new personas for them. They're my Hazel Twigg dolls based on my book.
ReplyDeleteHERE'S MY QUESTION: Heaven help me, I can't figure out how to subscribe to your blog. If possible, I'd love to occasionally pick your brain. I would love to have some of your seeming effortlessness (although I know there's a LOT of skill involved) rub off on me! Please help this clueless lover of old dolls subscribe to your blog.
Thank you so much!
Hi Ruth.....I think I may have figured out how to reconfigure my blog settings to allow things like subscription requests. I think it easier to figure out how to fix a doll than it is to figure out webpage settings!
DeleteI don't even know how to identify myself! Pesky lack of computer skills...
ReplyDeleteI'll check back and see if you respond. My name is Ruth. You can reach me at ruth at hazel twigg dot com. (<There's my sneaky code speak).
Hi Ruth....we have been in contact before through Facebook :-)
ReplyDeleteI will send you an email.
