Restringing a celluloid doll

This little doll's elastics are shot and she is very floppy.

She is made of celluloid, an early plastic.

Argh! The elastics are glued into the limbs.

Fortunately the glue dissolves with actetone. But celluloid also dissolves with acetone.

A small paintbrush and a q-tip and lots of patience gets out the elastics.

To restring these dolls you make a knot in one end of the elastic then push the knot gently into the hole in the limb.

Tada!

Then you thread the elastic through the body and make another knot.

Now the tricky part.....getting that knot into the other limb.

Pulling the knot out a bit and clamping ithe elatic with a hemostat will help the stuffing of that knot.

Done.
